So today is the second day of my first week at CQU on campus. I’ve had a busy last week getting myself ready to study. For me it was all about planning and making sure I’m ready. I’ve set my office up at home, labelled my files and note books for each subject, checked I have all my stationery but more importantly for me is put together a schedule for the week to ensure that I have enough time to study, and to also give myself time to relax and get to the gym (this isn’t relaxing for me!). Last year when I was studying in the UK, the job I worked was shifts, not only shifts but shifts that changed every week and made it hard for me to stick to routine and the schedule that I put together. I don’t like not being organised, as much as I will admit i have ‘winged it’ in the past, moving forward, I don’t want to put myself in this position again. I’ve started saying no to people, which I do find hard, but I have to put myself and my future first. We can catch up in 12 weeks when term 1 is all done and dusted right? I’ve also done a list of deadlines to keep me on track, I don’t want to be doing any last minute cramming as I know when I do, it doesn’t stay in. These are both on the wall above my desk at eye level for easy referencing and so I (hopefully!) don’t miss anything.
I also took time out at the weekend to catch up with friends that have been here for over 7 years and live in Toowoomba. We had a great weekend on the Gold Coast, lots of walking along the beach, a few beers and generally relaxing! I left feeling refreshed and ready for the challenge of term 1.
Let’s do this!!!!!
